February 2010

One tiring weekend after another...

on Monday, 1st February 2010 - 11:02

In my not so old age I'm left wondering: Where does all the time go?

Another weekend just whizzed by!  We entertained company on Saturday night with our in-house karaoke followed by some one-on-one battles with the Wii.  Then yesterday was called up to go ice skating for the first time in years!  Took me half a rink to remember what to do with my feet.  Steph's still learning but growing more confident!

Finally put up the Storyteller site! :D

on Tuesday, 2nd February 2010 - 13:42
One small step at a time...Am very happy to have finally posted SOMETHING on my storyteller section of this site.  I've dug up several poems and stories I wrote ages ago.  I've many ideas in my head for stories - and hopefully now that the foundation is there, I'll go ahead and get them out.

Self-published The Adventures of Choukie!

on Thursday, 11th February 2010 - 12:07

Finally self-published my second book - of which I would like to send the profits to either the Save a Sato organization or the Worchester Animal League (without either of which I would never have written this story).  It's loosely based on what factual details I was able to obtain about Maya's history.  It's a children's book though issues like death and abandonment are featured.  A BIG THANK YOU to Eun-Ah Park for being my editor on this!

has been bitten by the writing bug... ;)

on Friday, 12th February 2010 - 15:54
Feeling inspired after a talk with my supportive husband and am in the mood for writing.  A new story on my mind and for once - I have nothing to interrupt the momentum!  All I can say is that this will be a long one.Looking forward to this Valentine's weekend.  Not sure what to expect but planning to spend some time with Steph. Nothing else knew to report.  I suppose no news is also good news!

The choice is yours...

on Friday, 12th February 2010 - 18:13

An enlightening blog entry about a musician who decided to follow the 'safe' route and go to university.  These days I have been considering my options while I wait for news from recruiters, whether good or bad, and wonder what it is that I truly want to do with my life.

It's a snow day!

on Tuesday, 16th February 2010 - 9:31

The snow started around 8am and now it's falling like a constant trickle. I doubted that it would hit us as we missed the last two storms that blew this way.  Winter's back!  I love watching it.  At least with the snow falling, the squirrels will stay in their holes and Maya will be all the more manageable for it all.

150 Days living in Boston!!!

on Wednesday, 17th February 2010 - 8:55

Time flies when you're having fun!

  • We bought our first furniture together... (I learnt about buying beds!)
  • We bought our first used car
  • We bought our second bread maker

And since I'm still unemployed, I made my husband an Artisan style Foccaccia bread and carrot & lentil soup for dinner.  True, it only took me 5 minutes to put all the ingredients together and to put the dough in the bread maker (5 hours kneading/sitting) AND the soup only took around 1/2 hour to make (but he doesn't know it! Ok, maybe he does.)

Revere beach, Foccaccia, Whole Foods vs. Boston Organics, & Risk

on Saturday, 20th February 2010 - 17:26

"Borrowed" the photo from Revere.org.  This is a NICE beach.  A gentleman who had just come out of the water (and was still bare chested, in this wonderful February weather) assured me that the water is quite shallow for quite a ways in.  I think he was still 'high' from his dip BUT its not much colder than some days in Galway and who am I to question his desire to polar bear (though no ice!).

Life with the never ending ball of yarn

on Friday, 26th February 2010 - 17:00

Attempting to make a shawl for my younger sister, on her request.  Bought two balls of yarn (see picture) and it's a relatively easy knit, purl, pattern.  Problem is its taking FOREVER!  But I'm keeping at it, adding a few inches every day.  So far, the first ball that I started around christmas time has still not come to an end.
