Just say "NO" to Skulls & Crossbones for kids...
Yesterday went shopping and for the n'th time... I encountered lovely clothing but utterly destroyed in my eyes by the prominent skull and crossbones that designers seem to think is fashionable. It's supposed to be 'rockstar like' claimed the manager of the local Kids77 store. I was apalled. I'm sorry, rockstar to me implies a sense of unique fashion. Considering everyone from independents to the chains are all putting these little symbols on children's clothing - you have got to be kidding me!
My son will one day turn 13 and decide that he's against the world and at that point in time.. and I hope no sooner, and possibly later... he will start to think about gothic styles or the like - as I did when I was that age. Right now, he's trying to stand and almost starting to walk on his own. It's not my place to put these markings on him. He's a joyful spirit and doesn't need to have all this additional labelling on him. What's wrong with a baby that's NOT blinged out? I'd rather he spend time learning about his surroundings than about his clothes!
Not to mention the symbol being one of piracy, death, danger, poison... WHY would you put a poison symbol on your sweet little baby?!?! ![]()
For now, I buy my clothing at any shops where they still believe that kids should be attired in fashionable clothing (not like little pirates, gangsters, sportsfans) that is tasteful and will run the test of time.
Boo to mainstream for ruining clothing for little boys. Don't get me started on the little girls and all that 'princess and pink' clothing.
